Home Settlement Centre Places the Highest Priority on Protecting Customer Information

In order to do our work for our customers, Home Settlement Centre must request from borrowers either directly or through their lenders and real estate agents, information that is considered to be private and confidential. We understand that borrowers are naturally concerned about the security of that information while it is in our possession. To ensure that such information is completely protected from disclosure to those that are not entitled to have it, we have adopted privacy policies and procedures using tools and practices to obtain and protect customer information that we consider to be the best and most comprehensive in the real estate services industry.

Types of Information

Depending upon which of our services we are providing, the types of non-public personal information that we may collect from borrowers or their lenders and real estate agents include:

  • Information contained in applications, forms and in other communications delivered to us, whether in writing, in person, by telephone or any other means;
  • Information about the borrower’s transaction that has been referred to us;
  • Information from a consumer reporting agency.

Our Use of Confidential Information

Home Settlement Centre will not share or release confidential information to third parties parties except: (1) as necessary for us to provide the title and settlement services as requested by the borrower, or (2) as permitted by law. We may, however, store such information indefinitely, including the period after which any customer relationship has ceased, as required by law or industry standards. We may also provide all of the types of non-public personal information listed above to one or more of our affiliated companies. Such affiliated companies include financial service providers, such as title insurers, property and casualty insurers, and trust and investment advisory companies, or companies involved in real estate services, such as third party notary and settlement agents, title abstractors, appraisal companies, home warranty companies, and escrow companies.

Our Use of Confidential Information

Home Settlement Centre’s Privacy Policy applies to all customer confidential information for as long as it remains in our possession.
